SEEN FROM GARDEN

Mallard, Kestrel, Buzzard, Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Common Tern, Black-headed Gull, Canada Geese, Oystercatcher.

I live close to M6 Toll Road and have noticed a reduction in Garden bird species and numbers since the roads construction and the building of a nearby housing estate.

October 31

30th October Local Patch

A short walk around my local patch this afternoon produced the following --Starling 12, Long-tailed Tit 6, Black-headed Gull 49, Mallard 64, Coot 11, Blackbird 3, Goldfinch 8, Moorhen 6, Mute Swan 3, Tufted Duck 3, Grey Heron 2, Wood Pigeon 6, Magpie 3, Jay 1, Crow 5, Blue Tit 2, Great Tit 1.

29th October Cannock Chase, Whitehouse area

We decided to go for a walk on Cannock Chase this afternoon in the hope of seeing Redwings and other winter visitors. Birds seen – Redpoll, Siskin, Long-tailed Tit, Goldfinch, Crow, Kestrel, Magpie, Blackbird, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Fieldfare, Rook, Wood Pigeon, Jay, Green Woodpecker, House Sparrow, Robin. There were quite a few mixed flocks of birds about, but we didn't manage to see any Redwings amongst them!

October 28

26th October KINGSBURY WATER PARK

A mornings birding at Kingsbury Water Park the birds we saw were – Grey Heron, Cormorant, Coot, Moorhen, Great-crested Grebe, Teal, Shovler, Mute Swan, Starling, Lapwing, Black-headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Mallard, Crow, Rook, Pochard, Gadwall, Little Grebe, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Canada Geese, Pheasant, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Kestrel, Wood Pigeon, Long-tailed Tit, Robin, Magpie, House Sparrow. 

Then after lunch a few of us went over to Middleton Lakes in search of the Glossy Ibis that had been reported, however it did not appear!!!

On the way there two Buzzards were seen sitting on the top of the telegraph poles.

Today in my garden

Today, just as I was about to tuck into my breakfast a bird in my garden caught my eye.  It was a 'Great Spotted Woodpecker' I haven't seen one in my garden for a very long time!!  Smile  I even managed to get a few photos, which I have added to this blog.

5th October 2009 BELVIDE

Today my friend and I went over to Belvide for a mornings birding Birds Seen – Great Tit, Willow Tit, Robin, Blue Tit, Dunnock, Nuthatch, Moorhen, Tree Sparrow, Coal Tit, Mute Swan, Black-headed Gull, Great-crested Grebe, Coot, Tufted Duck, Lesser-black- backed Gull, Teal, Canada Goose, Mallard, Wigeon, Shovler, Cormorant, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Pheasant, Song Thrush, Lapwing, Pochard, Redshank, Ringed Plover, Meadow Pipit, Starling, Buzzard, Pied Wagtail, Wood Pigeon, Golden Plover, Jay, Gadwall, Snipe, Grey Heron, Blackbird, Goldfinch, Long-tailed Tit, Magpie, Crow, Kestrel, Reed Bunting. A good mornings birding.
